Tire Changer Machine
Every car owner will experience a flat tire whether by accident or by
improper tire maintenance. Some people would just call a towing company and let them handle the flat tire but if
you want to cut on costs, you can change the tire yourself. To help you change your tire, you will need the help of
a tire changer machine.

A tire changer machine is a
type of machine that is used to mount and dismount tires with automobile wheels. Once the tire and wheel assembly
are unattached from the car, the tire changer has all the peripherals needed to remove and replace the tire from
the wheel. There are different tire changer machines for different types of vehicles, from automobiles to trucks to
motorcycles.
The tire changer machine is made up of several components which makes tire
changing easier. The parts of a tire changer machine include:
* Air pressure system - the air
pressure system gives you the air you need to inflate the tires. It has four parts: air hose, air inflation gauge,
manual pressure bleed valve, and inflation pedal.
* Bead loosening system - this
part of the tire changer machine releases the tire beads from the rim of the wheel. It is composed of an arm
located near the bottom of the tire changer, usually on the right side, and a bead loosener shoe which is rounded
to accommodate the shape of the wheel and has a pivoting action. Located across the bead loosener shoe are rubber
squares which protect the tires from scratches during the loosening procedure.
* Foot pedals - usually there
are two foot pedals in a tire changer machine. One of these pedals is the clamp control pedal which is a
three-position pedal that opens and closes the rim clamps. The pistons move the rim clamps together or apart
simultaneously when the pedal is pressed. The other pedal is called the table top pedal and it controls the
rotation of the table top. The table top spins clockwise when the pedal is pressed down; when the pedal is raised,
the table top spins counterclockwise.
* Mount/demount mechanism -
this part of the tire changer machine has a duck head, a vertical slide, and a swing arm. The duck head, located at
the bottom end of the vertical slide, is used to mount and demount the tire from the wheel. The swing arm which
moves from left to right, moves the duck head to and from the rim. The vertical slide which moves up and down,
allows the duck head to fit onto the rims of different wheel widths and sizes. it also has a spring and locking
handle that allows the duck head to maintain a stable position around the rim.
* Table top & rim clamps -
these hold and rotate the wheel so you can mount or dismount the tire. The table top is located above the foot
pedals and the rim clamps are located at each end of the table top which are used to secure the wheels onto the
table top.
